Itinerary details

Day 1: Arrival & Introduction

• Arrival in Kigali, airport transfer, and hotel check-in.
• Welcome dinner and briefing on the itinerary.
• Introductory session on Rwandan history, pre-colonial era, and the colonial period.

Day 2: Cultural Heritage & Historical Sites

• Morning: Visit to the Ethnographic Museum in Butare to explore Rwanda’s diverse cultural
heritage and artifacts.
• Afternoon: Guided tour of the Nyanza King’s Palace, a historical site showcasing the former
Rwandan monarchy.
• Evening: Igitaramo (evening of cultural fun at the museum)

Day 3: Genocide & Remembrance Sites

• Morning: Visit to the Murambi Genocide Memorial, a former church where thousands were
killed, for a deeper understanding of the tragedy’s scale.
• Afternoon: Reflection session and discussion on the impact of the genocide on Rwandan
society

Day 4: Nyungwe experience

• Morning: Hike to Nyungwe Forest National Park, exploring its historical significance and
diverse ecosystems.
• Evening: Return to Kigali

Day 5: Academic Engagement & Fun

• Morning: Lecture by Raphael Nkaka, a Rwandan historian or researcher specializing in the
genocide against the Tutsi and its long-term consequences.
• Afternoon: Team fun activities at Fazenda Senga at the top of Mount Kigali
• Evening: Walk through the Kimironko Market

• Airport transfer and departure from Kigali.
